What to notice

At-Large Block Voting

ABC won almost twice as many seats as their vote share. Many smaller parties won no seats despite having about 10% of the vote.

Proportional Approval Voting

The seats better reflect the vote shares than with ALBV, the current system. ABC won fewer, and the extra 1.5 seats it did win came from support from related parties such as the NPA and TEAM, who didn't win enough support to take a seat of their own. Forward Together and COPE also elected councillors.

Each cell: seats won, that party’s share of the council, and the difference from a proportional share in brackets.

“Extra seats” is how many seats would have to change hands for the council to match the parties’ shares of the ballots.

Counted from the 164,175 ballots that marked at least one council candidate, City of Vancouver, 2022.
